Historic country church

Shown is the former Concord Church in Van Buren Township on Rookstool Road, east of Milford in Kosciusko County. According to some history accounts, it was the first church building erected in the township in the 1840s. This is not the original structure, but apparently another building was constructed possibly in the early 1900s or maybe as late as the 1920s. If anyone has more specific information, please contact me.  A sign indicates another church meets there now. Note the cast iron gate. And there is an old cemetery to the right, barely out of the picture, if you are facing the church building.

About historynut11

My name is Tim Ashley and I am a newspaper editor/reporter/photographer in Milford, Indiana, and live in nearby Goshen, Indiana. A deeply held and sincere passion of mine is history and learning from the past. I enjoy a wide variety of history topics, but particularly local history, noted American highways (Lincoln Highway and Route 66), railroad history and the Civil War. I believe we can learn much from the past and that past shapes who we are today. I also enjoy visiting museums and historical sites, as well as taking photos of remnants from the past still standing.
